Radom Chamber Orchestra has been operating since 2007 as a cultural institution of the City of Radom. The orchestra consists of sixteen musicians who form the core of the ensemble. Radom Chamber Orchestra has performed with such prominent soloists and conductors as Krzysztof Penderecki, Massimo Mercelli, Sarah McElravy, Piotr Pławner, Krzysztof Pełech, Krzysztof Herdzin, Łukasz Borowicz, Lidia Grychtołówna, Tytus Wojnowicz, Jurek Dybał, Yaniv Segal, Stephen Ellery, Patrick Gallois, Łukasz Długosz, Jean-Marc Fessard, Avri Levitan, and Marko Ylönen. Their repertoire is highly diverse, and includes both works from the canon of string orchestra literature as well as lesser-known pieces, meticulously rediscovered and rehearsed for a novelty-seeking audience. The exceptional versatility of the orchestra’s musicians allows for inspiring interpretations of new pieces, often composed specifically for the ensemble. One of the most important events organized by the orchestra is the Krzysztof Penderecki International Composers’ Competition ARBORETUM, each edition of which concludes with a final concert, when the band premieres six pieces specially composed for them. In 2021, the ensemble began working on the project “Harvey Hope – All Things Unfinished”, which aims to preserve the works of the English composer, guitarist, and collector from being forgotten. Under the baton of Szymon Morus, the orchestra, along with the guitarist Jakub Kościuszko, recorded the album Music of Harvey Hope (2022), featuring the world phonographic premieres of Hope’s works. They also performed numerous concerts in Poland and Slovakia, including appearances at the International Festival “Silesian Guitar Autumn” in Tychy and the International Guitar Festival in Modra. As part of its ongoing collaboration with the Ludwig van Beethoven Association, the Radom Chamber Orchestra has been organizing concerts for the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival for over a decade. In 2023, the orchestra performed at the Warsaw Philharmonic during that festival, receiving excellent reviews. Recently Jurek Dybał has become its principal conductor.
