Maciej Zakrzewski is an organist, composer, improviser, and blogger. He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in instrumentalism and serves as a lecturer at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. His body of work primarily encompasses organ compositions, songs, chamber music, and works for chamber orchestra. His compositions have been performed by renowned artists such as Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Adam Wendt, Polish the Violin Duo, the Poznań Brass Quintet, the O’bows Quartet, Monika Dzuła-Radkiewicz, Dominika Glapiak, Phan Ha Ngan, Dorota Szczepańska, Ewa Tracz, Beata Moryto, Vocal Ensemble Art’n’voices, and the Progress Chamber Orchestra. He is the winner of the first prize at the 7th Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck International Organ Music Competition, and he placed fourth at the International Organ Competition “Premio Elvira Di Renna” in Pontecagnano Faiano. He has participated in master courses on organ music interpretation conducted by M. Hoselbeck, P. van Dijk, O. Latry, H. Deustch, W. Zerer, and L. Ghielmi as well as courses on improvisation under P. Pincemaill, T. A. Nowak, and T. Escaich. His discography includes several albums, including solo projects such as Liszt & Widor Organ Works (2014), Naji Hakim-Organ Works” (2018) and Time to Time (2019). He graduated from the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, studying in the organ class under Professor Roman Perucki and Dr. Hanna Dys. He holds the position of vice-president of the Pomeranian Association Musica Giovane, and is a member of the organizing committee of the Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck International Organ Music Competition in Gdańsk. He has received scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as well as from the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the city of Gdańsk.
