In 1991, the guitarist Thomas Fellow and the singer Constanze Friend formed the duo Friend N Fellow. After more than 1500 concerts and more than 100,000 CD sales, it is considered the most successful project of its kind in Europe. They have toured the world from China (Beijing, China Millennium Park) to the USA (New York, World Trade Center) and shared the stage with Luther Allison, Ray Charles, Tommy Emmanuel, and Al Jarreau, among others. Friend N Fellow are a phenomenon. For 33 years they have been successfully pursuing their own path: leading beyond the mainstream and any other established musical pigeon-holes. Unique and recognizable, but always changeable and good for surprises. “One voice, one guitar – the rest is amazement” – a critic wrote a few years ago. With their intense and natural interaction, these two musicians reveal nuances which seem almost to have disappeared in today’s Radio-Pop world. Friend N Fellow’s music breathes the intensity of blues, the freedom of jazz and touches the sound of soul. Constanze Friend started her musical career in the band “Mr. Adapoe”, with performances at top international festivals, and as the support act to James Brown, Alvin Lee, and others. Thomas Fellow is the head of the unique education “Acoustic Guitar” at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. He is also a member of the European Guitar Quartet (with Dukić, Steidl, and Reentko) and Hands On Strings (with Stephan Bormann), a composer with his own edition on Schott Music, and the artistic director of the European Guitar Award.
