Alessandro Penezzi is considered one of the greatest virtuosos of Brazilian guitar. His concerts have been enjoyed by audiences in such countries as the USA, Russia, Japan, Gabon, Angola, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Kosovo, Macedonia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Morocco, and Portugal. Having graduated in Popular Music from Unicamp with a specialization in Creative Processes from Faculdade Souza Lima, Penezzi has been teaching courses, workshops, and seminars at various music festivals in Brazil and abroad. Additionally, he is currently pursuing a Professional Master’s degree at Federal University of Bahia on the PPGPROM programme. As a multi-instrumentalist, he plays the 7-string guitar, tenor guitar, cavaquinho, mandolin, and flute. He has participated in “Violões do Brasil”, a project dedicated to the masters of Brazilian guitar, and opened the show for Wayne Shorter at the 30th edition of the Skopje Jazz Festival in Macedonia. His works have been recorded by artists such as Yamandú Costa, Danilo Brito, Beth Carvalho, Bruno Moritz, Brian Silber, and Regional de NY, among others. In 2017, the album Jane Lenoir Plays Penezzi was released, featuring the great American flutist interpreting works exclusively by the composer. He has received tributes and nominations for his performance as an instrumentalist and as a composer and has been highlighted in awards such as Visa MPB Instrumental (2001), Tim de Música Brasileira (2006), Shell de Teatro, and Prêmio da Música Brasileira (2006). He has performed and recorded alongside renowned artists such as Dominguinhos, Renato Borghetti, Hermeto Pascoal, Yamandú Costa, Hamilton de Holanda, Zimbo Trio, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Beth Carvalho, Sílvio Caldas, Billy Blanco, Alaíde Costa, and D. Ivone Lara, as well as orchestras including Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo and London Symphony Orchestra. Alessandro is the founder of the Escola de Choro Online and the Penezzi Choro Camp.
